was contested at SNETTERTON PITS
on Sunday November 8th
Here are the results
We had 36 anglers and 27 caught fish. 20 fish came in the first hour before things slowed down
Sean Allen takes the top prize with a nice fish of 19lb 6oz Well done Sean.
2nd was Joe Scammell with four fish totalling 17lb 2oz including the smallest fish of the day
In 3rd spot we have Davis Trollop with two fish for 15lb 2oz
and in 4th we have Mel Charlesworth with a nice fish of 15lb 1oz
Well done to the four of you and all the others who caught.
Thankd must go to Martin Rowland and Phil Cotton for their help and support and to John Lambert of Avenue Angling for yet again providing the prizes with plenty to spare for our raffles for the coming year.

The East Anglian Pike Championship
10th November 2013 - This years event was held on the Ocean Pit at Harleston. 28 Hardy anglers fished. The event was won by Alan Lock with two fish totalling 13lb. Nick Pottle was second with 2 fish for 12lb 11oz and in third place was Darren Robinson with the best fish of the day at 12lb. In fouth spot was Will Crowe with a fish of 7lb 2oz.....the smallest fish of the day was caught by Mark Underdown at 2lb 8oz....record fish started life somewhere Mark.
So Our East Anglian Pike Champion for 2013 is Alan Lock....Well Done Alan!

3rd March 2013 -Our annual Outing on the Trinity Broads was again a great success with 14 anglers catching 42 fish. Chris Rivett was top dog with seven fish for 44lb followed by Bob Belcher with seven fish for 40lb 13oz and John Holder with five fish for 34lb 4oz. Roy Rushbrook was fourth with seven fish for 26lb 8oz and Stephan Roberts took fifth with two fish for 16lb 13oz. The anglers then retired for a slap up Roast Beef Dinner which was well received and well deserved. I know a great time was had by all who attended. The match is usually scheduled for the new year but this year snow intervened, we will keep you posted for 2014.

11th November 2012 - This years event was won by John Holden with three fish for 23lb 9oz, well done John an excellent result. Second was Darren Taylor again with three fish for a total weight of 21lb 2oz and Paul Elvin took third spot with two fish for 16lb 6oz. Peter Eagling came in fourth with a fish of 10lb 10oz and so our new East Anglian Pike Champion for 2012 is

6 November 2011 - The event was won by Keith Sones with two fish for 17lb 8oz. Second was Keith Underdown with 11lb and in third place we had Phil Smith with a creditable 9lb 8oz. Nick Pottle was fourth with 8lb 4oz. Well done lads. It was a tough day but good to see a decent turnout and well done to all who took part. 7 November 2010 - David Todd retained the East Anglian Pike Championship title on a tough day at the Ocean Pit, Harleston. Just eight of the forty-one competitors weighed in as the pike were generally uncooperative. In addition to the £250 first prize, Todd also collected the award for the largest single fish of the day (13lbs 2ozs) while Roy Rushbrooke took the applause for landing the smallest fish with a specimen of 2lbs 8oz.

1 November 2009 - David Todd lifted the East Anglian Pike Championship at the Ocean Pit, Harleston in atrocious conditions earlier today. Driving rain made everything very unpleasant for the 27 competitors but Todd prevailed to land three fish for 26-12. Just 12 ounces behind was Peter Eagley with three fish for 26-00 and 2006 champion Darren Knowles had a brace that went 20-00 exactly for third place. Todd also took the prize for the largest single fish (12-08) while the honour of landing the smallest fish went to Darren Taylor (2-02). The match was generously sponsored once again by Avenue Angling.

4 January 2009 - David Rose won the annual Club Championship when it was fished today as a boat match on Sportsman's Broad. Rose boated three fish for 20-01, just ahead of Mickey Cox who also took three fish for 18-13. John Currie was third with 11-08. 13 members took part in tough conditions with 6 catching a total of just 11 pike between them.

26 October 2008 - Martin Rowland won the East Anglian Pike Championship for a second time when it was fished at the Ocean Pit near Harleston on the Norfolk / Suffolk border earlier today. Rowland's three fish earned him the top prize of £250 and the John Farrow Memorial Trophy with an aggregate of 22-03, including the largest of the day which weighed in at 12-08. Glen Hunn captured two doubles for 21-08 to land second place and £125, Billy McKibben was third on 19-12 with three fish for £50 and Tony Skinner claimed fourth place and £25 with three fish for 19-06. 39 competitors took part, with 14 catching a total of 22 pike between them.

21 September 2008 - The recent warm weather put paid to any decent bags at the East Anglian Lure Championship, fished as a roving match on the River Waveney at Beccles earlier today. With the river running clear and very low for most of the match, only five of the fifteen competitors wetted their nets with just six fish between them. Chris Bielby took the first prize of £100 with two fish for 4-06, Andy Bagshaw earned £50 as runner-up with a single fish of 3-00 while Bob Belcher claimed third place and £25 with one fish of 2-09.

5 January 2008 - Darren Knowles was delighted to land the annual Club Championship title when he triumphed on the Trinity Broads complex with six fish for 37-10 including the day's largest individual fish of 22-08. Bob Belcher was second with five fish for 30-00. All 12 competitors weighed in, catching a total of 41 fish for a combined weight of 195-10.

28 October 2007 - There's a new name on the John Farrow Memorial Trophy today as Chris Lonsdale lifted the 2007 East Anglian Pike Championship at the Swanton Morley Fishery. In dismal conditions Chris caught four fish for a total of 18-04 to walk away with the first prize of £250. John Holder was close behind with two fish for 17-04, including the largest of the day which went 14-01. Ian Shoolbred was third with three fish for 11-04 and fourth place went to Terry Hughes with a brace totalling 10-10. 53 pikers took part with 26 catching a total of 40 pike between them.
Afterwards, Norwich and District Pike Club chairman Stephen Roberts thanked Avenue Angling for their generous sponsorship and Dereham & District AC for their cooperation in staging the event.

16 September 2007 - The East Anglian Lure Championship was fished on the River Waveney at Beccles today and David Rose triumphed in a two horse race to defeat John Currie by just eight ounces. 13 pikers took part with 11 catching 33 fish between them. Currie took the prize for the largest fish with an 8-01 while Chris Bielby caught two tiny pike (perhaps the same one twice?) of two ounces to earn a prize for the smallest fish of the day.

14 January 2007 - Steve Hutchens won the annual Club Championship for the first time when it was fished as a boat match on the Trinity Broads system. His five fish totalled 32-04, with Adam Todd in second position with three fish for 24-15 and Hutchens' boat partner Billy McKibben third on 23-11. A total of fourteen members took part, with twelve catching.

29 October 2006 - Darren Knowles won the 2006 East Anglian Pike Championship and first prize of £250 at the Swanton Morley Fishery today. With five fish totalling 19-08, Knowles finished over four pounds clear of Carl Street in second place on 15-01 with David Rose taking third position with 13-06. 59 competitors fished this competition with 29 (49%) catching 49 fish between them. 10 September 2006 - Bob Belcher became East Anglian Lure Champion for the second time when he caught five fish for 21-11 at the Swanton Morley Fishery today. Belcher first won the title in 2003 and this year his largest fish of 12-10 helped him finish almost eleven pounds clear of runner-up Adam Todd on 10-14 with Martin Rowland in third position with 4-15. 20 anglers took part with 9 catching 15 fish between them.

16 October 2005 - Paul Williams is the new East Anglian Pike Champion. He took three fish for 18-09 to secure the title and first prize of £200 at the Swanton Morley Fishery on an excellent day for pike fishing. 74 competitors registered, with 32 (43%) catching a total of 56 fish between them. There was a tie for second place between Martin Rowland who had seven fish for 18-00 and 12 year-old Billy McKibben who took the heaviest fish of the day on exactly 18-00 to share the spoils. In fourth place was Darren Knowles with four fish for 15-03.

4 September 2005 - John Currie earned the title of East Anglian Lure Champion and the first prize of £100 at the Swanton Morley Fishery today. As ever Currie worked tirelessly for five fish that added up to 16-02, with his best weighing 6-07. Second place went to Steve Hutchens with three fish for an aggregate weight of 10-06, and Bob Belcher also bagged three fish to total 5-12 for third position. Twenty-one competitors took part, catching a total of 21 fish between them.

9 January 2005 - Rockland Broad hosted the annual Club Championship, and the haul of just six fish between ten anglers was typical of the local returns in the past month or so. Four of those six fish came out within the first two hours. Defending champion Stephen Carter opened the scoring inside the first half hour with a 15-08, and shortly after Stephen Beckham landed a nice-looking 16-04 to take the lead. This was soon followed by Colin Bradfield with a 14-04 and boat partner Bob Belcher snatched a 7-10 before the fishing went quiet. Alan Parker managed a 10-04 at the mid-point and then, in the last hour, Beckham lured his second fish (a jack of 4-10) to secure the title of Club Champion with a total weight of 20-14. The event raised a total of £50, which has been sent to help some of those who suffered as a result of the recent Asian tsunami disaster.
31 October 2004 - The new East Anglian Pike Champion is Colin Bradfield, who won his title and the first prize of £200 at the Swanton Morley Fishery. Bradfield captured the largest fish of the day (20-12) with around 90 minutes to go for a winning weight of 22-07, over seven pounds clear of runner-up John Goble who had led the field for several hours with a solitary catch of 15-04. Simon Jacobs was third - his single fish weighed 11-00. 64 competitors took part, with 33 (51%) catching a total of 53 fish. Please go to Gallery to view pictures taken at this event.

19 September 2004 - Mark Steward won the second East Anglian Lure Championship with three fish totalling 15-10 at the Ocean Pit, Harleston. His efforts earned him a first prize of £200. Please go to Gallery to view a picture of Mark with his largest fish of 9-08. David Todd was second with a single fish of 2-09, collecting prizes worth a total of £105. The remaining fourteen contestants kept their nets dry in weather more suited to sunbathing than lure fishing.
28 December 2003 - Sixteen Members turned out for the annual Club Championship on the Trinity Broads system. With a biting wind to contend with, just two competitors managed to "trouble the scorers" but both caught decent fish. Stephen Beckham took the runner-up slot with a single fish of 17-14, while Stephen Carter became Club Champion in his first season as a Member with a specimen of 22-07. 2 November 2003 - The East Anglian Pike Championship took place at the Swanton Morley Fishery near East Dereham, Norfolk. 14 September 2003 - The East Anglian Lure Championship made its debut at the Ocean Pit, Harleston on the Norfolk/Suffolk border. A total of 17 competitors took part in this roving event. The first prize of £200 went to Bob Belcher, who caught nine fish for 30-14.
